57.0 Beta, given for beta channel users on September 26, 2011 for the first time.
In October last year, the Firefox Project Quantum was announced. There are several aspects of this project in Firefox 57, so Firefox says this release is called Quantum Firefox.
Firefox Quantum is fast about 2 times faster than Firefox 49. Firefox Quantum has a visual refresh (photon).

Firefox Quantum

In October, the Firefox Quantum Project announced that it was an effort to create the next generation of engines for modern computers. Since then, their engineering team has made their focus uninterrupted for creating incredibly fast Firefox.

Already this year, they made several major improvements in Firefox that have done better than ever. For example, they converted Firefox to run using multiple processes. In addition, they introduced games-replaceable features like web assembly and WebVR, which are faster.

But they have planned many more projects together in Firefox Quantum.

You are able to measure the speed of Firefox Quantum. One simple way to measure the approximate speed of browser performance is the 2.0-still-in-development benchmark that introduces modern web applications. Results vary based on computers and applications that you are actively using, but one of the most consistent things is that Firefox Quantum 2 times faster than Firefox.

Firefox Quantum (Beta) vs Chrome

Firefox is historically driven mostly on a single CPU, but the Firefox Quantum desktop and mobile devices will be operated on multiple CPU cores. Advanced hardware usage of your computer will make Firefox Quantum dramatically faster. Firefox's new CSS engine will run faster with multiple CPU cores, instead of moving slowly to single cores. Other browsers can not do this.

The results of Firefox Quantum are often faster than Chrome, with about 30% less RAM.

It is important that users think they are using a good idea and high-performance product. To reflect on these improvements, they integrate and reorganize the Firefox user interface through their photon project.

With the new design, Firefox will continue with a new interface. It is sure that photon will be influenced by the modern new designs of Firefox's Quantum users, which will put their needs first. Photon does not just look good, it's even smarter.
